The Community Enrichment Fund (CEF) was created to allow the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay to contribute to the financial needs of community-based organizations located in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties through grant distribution.

  • 2025–2026 Grant Recipients

    A Safe Place Logo

    A Safe Place provides an array of services to address and prevent domestic violence including: a crisis shelter, community mental health, teen dating violence prevention, training, and legal services. Grant monies will go toward their legal fund which allows women to access free or low cost assistance with immediate legal matters such as child custody, protective orders, employment, immigration and housing. A Safe Place is the only shelter serving Alameda and Contra Costa counties which offers legal assistance.

    TAGS: Teen Advocacy Going Strong Logo

    Teen Advocacy Going Strong (TAGS) exists to help women and girls, increase creative expression, earn income, socialize, and build confidence and work experience. Teens have the opportunity to participate in creative workshops such as pottery, fashion design and others and are able to sell their work at traveling Maker’s Markets. There is also a thrift shop open to the public where youth can work in customer service, marketing, management, entrepreneurship etc. Grant money will go toward funding supplies, instructors, and other expenses related to future creative workshops.

    Shelter, Inc.

     

     

    SHELTER, Inc. rebuilds lives one family at a time by helping them re-establish a home and assisting with the skills and resources needed to live the life they deserve. Wrap-around services are essential components of long-lasting solutions. Affordability is only one factor that results in someone becoming homeless. Education, training, counseling and goal planning are vital to the success of regaining and maintaining a home.

     

    Oakland Elizabeth House

     

     

     

    Established in 1991, Oakland Elizabeth House (Ehouse) is a transitional residential program for women with children who have experienced homelessness, domestic violence, addiction, or poverty. Ehouse is a nurturing, cooperative living environment that provides resources, hospitality, and respect. Ehouse is one of only three facilities in Oakland that provides transitional housing to women and their children.

  • 2022–2023

    Serenity House Oakland Logo

    Serenity House Oakland’s mission is to empower women who have experienced violence, addiction, homelessness, and incarceration to heal from trauma, transform their lives, and achieve their dreams. Grant funds will go towards assisting 10 families to receive essential move-in items including bedding, pillows, blankets, cleaning supplies, pots and pans, kitchen essentials, and more. The goal is to offer families a fresh start as they rebuild their lives after fleeing from domestic violence situations.

     

    Lotus Bloom Logo

    Lotus Bloom’s mission is to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for traditionally underserved populations to come together as a community to provide children with a rich learning foundation. The grant will support their Multicultural Playgroups, where parents, caregivers, and kids can come together to foster bonding, social skills, and early learning preschool experiences in a structured space with free play, art, literacy, circle time, and field trips. Playgroups are offered weekly across three sites in Downtown/West Oakland, San Antonio, and East Oakland. Over 75 families attend playgroups every week to access early learning, socialization, and enrichment activities.

    Community Education Partnerships (CEP) Logo

    Community Education Partnerships serves students experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. The Summer of STEAM Program aims to provide project-based learning opportunities that engage our students’ curiosity for and interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

     

    STAND! For Families Free of Violence Logo

    STAND! For Families Free of Violence is the only provider of comprehensive family violence services in Contra Costa County. STAND! operates the the only facility in Contra Costa County, designed specifically for the needs of domestic violence victims and their children.

     

  • 2021–2022

    18 Reasons Logo

    18 Reasons Empowers our community with the confidence and creativity needed to buy, cook and eat good food every day. Grant will go to support the Nourishing Pregnancy Program which aims to reduce food insecurity and the negative impacts of poverty on Black and Latinx women and their babies throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

     

    A Safe Place Logo

    A Safe Place Provides emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence. Grant will be used to expand emergency housing for survivors of gender-based violence.

     

    Acta Non Verba

    Acta Non Verba Youth Urban Farm Project Creates a safe and creative outdoor space for children, youth and families in East Oakland. Grant will be used to expand their CSA and farm programs to include wellness kits, and health education and services for children and families.

     

    Youth Alive Logo

    Youth ALIVE! Provides assistance and education on preventing violence to youth, families, and to the public. Grant will go to support mothers and families who have lost loved ones to violence.
