The Junior League of Oakland-East Bay (JLOEB) is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

By empowering women and providing valuable leadership training, we are giving Bay Area women the tools to get involved, put their talents to work, and positively impact the communities of Oakland and the greater East Bay.

We focus on supporting organizations that assist women, children, and gender-expansive people who are unhoused.

Strength in Numbers

As one of hundreds of Junior League chapters across the world, JLOEB is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI). Established in 1935, the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay has been committed to improving the lives of women and children in Alameda and Contra Costa counties for 90 years. To date, JLOEB has committed over 7 million volunteer hours and over $3 million in grants to the East Bay community, leaving a lasting and positive impact on the Bay Area. JLOEB’s immediate focus is developing the potential of women while also supporting organizations helping women, children, and gender-expansive individuals experiencing homelessness in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Our collective community impact brings much-needed financial support and womanpower to nonprofits making a real change in our communities. In the 2023–2024 League Year, JLOEB partnered with over 15 nonprofit organizations to provide almost 400 hours of volunteerism. We held supply drives for holiday gifts for families in need, collected menstrual products to address period poverty, and distributed $10,000 in grants to local nonprofits supporting women and children. The Junior League of Oakland-East Bay is a dynamic, volunteer-run nonprofit organization that has touched the lives of countless women, children, and their families for over 80 years. 

There is always more work to be done, more help needed, and more opportunities to make an impact in Oakland and the Greater East Bay. The empowered women of the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay are working to improve our local communities through leadership and effective action.
