We’re Focused on What Matters Most Right Now in Oakland and the East Bay

Our current area of focus is supporting women, children, and gender-expansive individuals experiencing homelessness in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, one of the most pressing challenges the Bay Area is facing.
We address this issue by empowering women, promoting volunteerism and fundraising, and ensuring our community impact work goes towards organizations serving this cause. Each year, JLOEB provides hundreds of hours of volunteer support to nonprofits in the greater East Bay, from staffing food pantries and kitchens to staffing fundraisers and community events and so much more. We partner with local organizations, run supply drives for families in need during the holidays, and support other member-driven causes throughout the year. Our signature spring fundraising event, Touch a Truck, delights families and children from across the Bay Area while raising funds that we then, in turn, distribute via community grants to nonprofits.
In 2024–2025, we hope to deepen relationships with our nonprofit partners, expand our fundraising efforts, and continue to grow to expand our membership base for deeper impact as we prepare to celebrate our anniversary.
Since 1935, our goal has been to help East Bay women develop civic leadership skills through their volunteer work and then put those talents to work in the communities that need it. JLOEB empowers women to grow while positively impacting their communities.
Working Together to Improve East Bay Communities
No matter what we’re currently focusing on, the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay’s work centers around improving our local communities through effective action and leadership. We have identified women, children, and gender-expansive people experiencing homelessness as the most pressing issue in our community right now, and we are helping local women take action to resolve it. Together we are working to improve our community.
